If you've ever lived in Michigan, you've probably heard of or maybe even found Petoskey stones. And if not, consider me honored to introduce you to them.

Petoskey stones are pieces of extinct, fossilized coral from 300+ million years ago, back when this part of the world was covered by a warm, inland sea. Each dark spot represents an individual animal (its "mouth," specifically)! You can find Petoskey stones mostly around the city of Petoskey, Michigan, in the northwest corner of the lower peninsula, although they're also found elsewhere.

These fossils helped get me into geology/Michigan science, and I made a YouTube video about them a while back if you want to learn more. But the current news is: Petoskey stone stickers are now a thing that exist in the world, and I love them. ☺️

This week has been really really hard. Almost three years ago my aunt left this earth and grief if tricky, because in this last week, the brokenness and pain from losing her has taken me down. So today, in the darkness, I went to my safe place, to try to find peace. I didn’t find much peace, and I didn’t find many blues or agates, but I did write a chapter of my book and I did breathe a little bit. Grief isn’t linear, grief is a fucking mess (pardon my French but I believe it truly is that extreme!) I miss my aunt so much, I wish she was here to visit with and hug, I wish I could text her and read her “I love you, niece”… So we keep keeping on, through the dark and through the pain, we find little joys like handfuls of blues and agates, like banter and laughter with my girl, like little afternoon trips with the kids to the county fair…we have to do what we can do to find the light in the dark. Sorry I don’t have anything profound to say today, but here’s to brighter tomorrows while we still remember how important it is to feel.

SURPRISE!!! I just released some coasters in the shop!

We've been working hard all week to get enough made to restock the stores and also offer some to you guys. It feels so good to be back at it.

Work with a newborn is definitely different than what it was before but the hubby and I have been working in shifts to make it happen and I'm so proud that within 2 months of being new parents were already back at it.
